Rio doesn't really compare to anywhere else. Beach and forest and granite mountain inside one city, and a postcard view from almost any rooftop. The nomad scene clusters in Ipanema, Leblon, and parts of Botafogo and Copacabana. One of my favourite cities — but not one I'd recommend to inexperienced travellers. Two things to be honest about. First, Rio's remote-work infrastructure is thinner than CDMX or Medellín — fewer dedicated coworking spaces, more "get a nice Airbnb and work from there," and the social scene runs through apps like Nomadtable or organised events more than walk-into-a-café spontaneity. Brazilians are very friendly and welcoming once you're in, so connecting isn't hard if you put in the effort. Second, safety calibration here is more demanding than anywhere else on this list — this is probably the most dangerous city on the page. Phone snatching in particular is extremely common, even in tourist areas, even in daylight. Don't bring phones to the beach, don't walk with a visible laptop, pick the neighbourhood carefully. Trade-off on timezone: -4h to Zurich.
Rio De Janeiro
The most photogenic city on this list — beach, mountain, jungle, and a safety story that calls for an experienced traveller.
