Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

remotli.ch is a Swiss remote job board operated as a solo project. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@remotli.ch.

2. What data we collect

We collect little, and we ask you for almost none of it. When you visit remotli.ch:

• Page views, clicks and a small set of named product events (for example, opening a job listing) are recorded by PostHog. See section 3.
• PostHog stores a random identifier in your browser and sends it with those events, so repeat visits from the same browser are not counted as new people. It is set to last up to a year.
• Your IP address and browser user agent reach our hosting provider (Vercel) and PostHog as part of every request. PostHog derives an approximate location from the IP address and then discards it, so the IP address is not stored alongside the analytics events.
• The page you arrived from, if your browser sends one.

This is pseudonymous data, not anonymous data. It carries no name, email or account, but a browser identifier that lasts a year and an IP address can still point back at a person, so we treat it as personal data rather than call it anonymous. Section 3 has a switch that turns it off.

If you subscribe to the Remotli digest, we also collect your email address and the date you subscribed. See section 9 for details.

4. Cookies

PostHog sets one first-party cookie and keeps a matching entry in your browser's local storage, which is where the identifier from section 2 lives. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking pixels on this site.

Turning analytics off in section 3 stops the events being sent. It does not wipe what is already in your browser, and it deliberately leaves one entry behind: recording that you said no is the only way we can honour it on your next visit. To clear the rest, delete this site's data in your browser.

Three small cards can appear in the corner of a job page: an offer to create a free account, after an Apply click; a one-tap “Did you apply to this role?” for people who are signed in; and an offer of an email alert, after the description has been read to its end. Whether each has been shown, closed or taken is remembered in this browser, so a card that was closed stays closed for weeks and one that was taken stays away for months. Every entry that is used for this is listed below, and each name starts with remotli:.

• remotli:post-apply-prompt: the account card was shown in this tab. A flag, cleared when the tab closes.
• remotli:post-apply-dismissed and remotli:post-apply-saved: that card was closed, or taken. A date each.
• remotli:applied-prompt:followed by the address of the role: the “Did you apply?” card has already asked about that role in this tab. A flag, cleared when the tab closes. The name carries the role because the question is per role.
• remotli:dwell-prompt:shown: the alert card was shown in this tab. A flag, cleared when the tab closes.
• remotli:dwell-prompt:dismissed: that card was closed. A date and a count, because a second refusal is honoured for longer than a first.
• remotli:dwell-prompt:saved: an alert was saved from that card. A date.
• remotli:prompt-slot: which card was shown last, and when. It is what holds the site to one card per browser per half hour.
• remotli:highlight-upsell:minimised: on the pages for employers posting a role, that the offer of a paid highlight was collapsed to one line. A flag.

Between them those entries hold a flag, a date, a count and the address of a page on this site. No name, no email address, no identifier, nothing about you, and none of it leaves the browser: it is never sent anywhere and never joined to the analytics in section 3. It is per browser, not per person and not per network address, so a second device starts over. Under Art. 45c FMG this needs telling you and letting you refuse, not asking permission, which is what this section and the switch above are. Deleting this site's data clears every one of them, and the only consequence is that the cards may be offered again.

5. Third-party links

Job listings link to external company career pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

6. Data retention

Analytics events are stored in our PostHog project and deleted when the retention period configured for that project expires. We would rather leave the number out than print one we have not checked, so if you want the period that applies today, email hello@remotli.ch. Newsletter data is kept as described in section 9.

We do not sell or rent data, and we do not share it for advertising. It reaches only the providers we need to run the site: Vercel (hosting), PostHog (analytics), Neon (database, EU Frankfurt), Resend (email) and Stripe (payment, for companies buying a job post).

7. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the EU/EEA or Switzerland, you have the right to access, rectify, or delete any personal data we hold about you. In normal browsing the only data we hold is the pseudonymous analytics described in sections 2 and 3, which is not linked to your name, and section 3 lets you stop it being collected at all. For any requests, email hello@remotli.ch.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site grows. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

9. Email subscribers

If you subscribe to Remotli emails, we collect:

• Your email address
• The date and source page of your subscription
• What you subscribed to, and how often you asked to hear from us
• Your confirmation date (once you complete double opt-in)

Purpose: Sending you new Swiss remote roles at the frequency you chose (each day, once a week, or a curated round-up every other week), plus the occasional Guide and Briefing email on visas, tools and the monthly read on Swiss remote work. If you save a search as a job alert, we also store the filters you saved so the alert can match them. We use your email for nothing else, and we never sell or share it.

Legal basis: Explicit consent via double opt-in. The signup form states everything the subscription includes, and the confirmation email lists it again; clicking the link in that email is what activates the subscription. Nothing is sent before you confirm.

Processors: Your email is stored in Neon (PostgreSQL, EU Frankfurt) and delivered via Resend (email delivery service).

Retention: Until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, your email is retained on a suppression list only (to honour your opt-out). It is never used for further marketing.

Unsubscribe: Every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link, and the same link opens a preference page where you can keep the roles and drop the Guide and Briefing emails, change how often they arrive, or stop everything. You can also email hello@remotli.ch at any time to be removed.
