I haven't worked from Cape Town yet, but it's a regular pick on the Swiss-winter circuit — popular with the Berlin tech scene for month-long stays in December and January when Europe is grey. The pull is the inversion: Cape Town's summer (November to March) is Swiss winter, the timezone sits +1h from CET (basically nothing), so you don't even have to shift your workday. Beautiful coastal city, food and wine scene that punches above its size, and the 90-day visa window lines up neatly with the season you'd actually want. Trade-off: crime is real in a way it isn't in most European cities — stay in Sea Point, Green Point, or City Bowl, and Uber after dark rather than walking.
Cape Town
The Swiss-winter classic — Southern Hemisphere summer at +1h from CET, on a route the Berlin tech scene has been quietly running for years.
