Porto is smaller and calmer than Lisbon and a lot of people prefer it for exactly that reason. Walkable, great food, an easy atmosphere, and cheap weekend escapes up the Douro valley for wine country if you ever need to get out. Good for a month. Winters are grey and wet — this is a May–October city, not a year-rounder.
