Valencia is up-and-coming — less touristy and less crowded than Barcelona, with a vibe that people who've actually been there keep raving about. Smaller, walkable, beach reachable by bike along the old Turia riverbed park, and the food is as good as it is everywhere in Spain. The trade-off is a smaller nomad scene than Barcelona — depending on what you came for, that's the point.
