Systems Developer - Remote Access (80-100%)

About this role
As a Systems Developer in the Remote Access Team, you will build and operate our Client VPN and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) services. Customers use them to connect securely to their corporate networks and applications from anywhere. This is a builder-operator hybrid role: you will design, implement, deploy, maintain and operate the components you create, from initial concept through production operations.
You will be part of the core team developing remote access services for our customer base.
Your work will include:
- Integrating OEM remote access software into our SASE platform, which runs on deployments across customer sites, public clouds, and our own Kubernetes-based cloud.
- Working closely with vendors to understand their products in depth and improve functionality, performance, and reliability.
- Building the service around these products: deployment automation, configuration management, internal tools, and APIs.
- Integrate the services and their configuration into AI agents used for operations. - Extending monitoring, alerting, and log aggregation capabilities.
- Troubleshooting and debugging production systems.
- Life-cycle management and optimization of existing deployments.
- Writing operational documentation for the teams that run and support the service.
You will own the components end-to-end. Operational excellence matters as much as code quality.
This role is not a fit you are looking for a pure software development position where someone else handles deployment and operations. It is also not a fit if you want a system administration role focused on configuration and support rather than development. We value both specializations. This role simply requires solid foundations of both areas in one person.
Required Qualifications
- Higher education (ETH, university, FH) in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of professional experience in a relevant role with exposure to networking technologies (dynamic routing, firewalls, TCP/IP, etc.).
- Proficiency in software development with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python) and a concurrent compiled language (e.g., Go, C++, C#, Rust).
- Experience with Linux or another UNIX-based operating system, including comfort working at the system level.
- Knowledge of container and cloud technologies (Kubernetes).
- Experience using LLM-assisted development tools.
- Fluent in English.
- Clear communication skills and ability to work both in a team and independently.
Nice to Have
- Expertise in authentication and identity protocols such as OAuth 2.0, SAML, OpenID Connect, and/or LDAP.
- Familiarity with software and system testing practices.
- Understanding of monitoring and observability principles.
- A solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
